The Higher Committee of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Award for Environmental Management in the Islamic World (KSAAEM) has approved 17 award winners from 13 Islamic countries for 2018-2019 in the award’s five categories: best individual or collective research, achievement or practice in the environment and sustainable development, best practice in environment and sustainable development projects or activities in the public sector in the Member States, best practice in environment and sustainable development projects or activities in the private sector in the Member States, best leading practices or activities in the environment and sustainable development in non-governmental organizations, and the best environmentally-friendly Islamic city.

The prizes will be awarded to the winners at the opening ceremony of the 8th Islamic Conference of Environment Ministers, to be held at ISESCO headquarters in Rabat on 2-3 October 2019, under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco.

KSAAEM is the largest environmental award in the Islamic world. The biennial award aims to consolidate the broad notion of environmental management in the Islamic world, stimulate interest in sustainable development, and identify and disseminate outstanding efforts and successful practices in environmental management among Member States. KSAAEM is also an important pillar in promoting and raising awareness of issues of joint international environmental action, encouraging both institutions and individuals to ensure an eco-friendly future for the Islamic world and the world at large.
