Meeting on the activation of KSAAEM Media Plan

On the morning of 15 March 2017, at ISESCO headquarters, a meeting was held to examine ways to activate the media plan of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Award for Environmental Management in the Islamic World (KSAAEM), whose current edition 2016-2017 is supervised by ISESCO. The meeting was chaired by Mr Mohamed Ghemari, ISESCO Director of the Secretariat of the Executive Council, General Conference, and Specialized Ministerial Conferences, and Coordinator of the Award’s General Secretariat, and was attended by the Head of the Centre of Information and Communication, two ICT experts from the Centre of Planning, Information, Documentation and Publishing, an expert in environmental issues from ISESCO’s Directorate of Science and Technology, and a programme specialist from the Secretariat of the Executive Council, General Conference, and Specialized Ministerial Conferences.
The meeting reviewed and evaluated the measures featured in the Award’s media plan in order to publicize and disseminate information about the award, its categories and eligibility criteria, as part of the intense media campaign launched on 1 November 2016. The campaign included sending correspondences to Member States’ National Commissions for Education, Science and Culture, Member Universities of the Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World (FUIW) and Arab, Islamic and international organizations; and publishing and circulating an announcement (in Arabic, French and English) via social media, news agencies, print and electronic newspapers as well as the Award’s website. The meeting also examined the most efficient ways to ensure the success of the second phase of the media campaign of the KSAAEM, which kicked off on 1 March 2017.
Participants in the meeting agreed to continue the dissemination of the Award’s brochure in Arabic, French and English, in its print and electronic versions and using all media outlets to reach the Award’s targeted categories. In the same vein, they suggested to have copies of the Award’s brochure distributed by ISESCO experts and programme specialists on mission in the Islamic world and beyond and prepare a preliminary draft annual newsletter of the Award. Other recommendations of the meeting included looking for a specialized media agency to prepare an introductory video and an advertisement on the Award and contacting some Arab and international newspapers to know the conditions and requirements for publishing advertisement on the Award. The electronic platform dedicated to the reception of submissions will also intensify its coverage of the Award. In addition, the participants recommended setting up a media commission to supervise the implementation of media plan of the Award in its next edition.
It is worth noting that the Award’s website (www.ksaaem.org) is available for any party wishing to make submissions or obtain further information on the Award and its categories and eligibility criteria. The website provides a link to the electronic platform dedicated to the reception of submissions and the jury.
It should also be noted that the submissions to the Award are still open until 30 April 2017.
