ISESCO /KSA MEP coordination meeting’s minutes signed

Today, at the headquarters of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) in Rabat, the Organization’s Director General, Dr Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, and the General President of the General Authority of Meteorology and Environmental Protection (MEP) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia co-signed the minutes of the coordination meeting held between the two institutions yesterday.

ISESCO/MEP Joint Commission yesterday approved the minutes of the 1st meeting, of the Higher Committee of the KSA Award for Environmental Management in the Islamic World, held in Jeddah on 26 September 2016, under the high patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz.

The Award, supervised by the General Authority, and whose General Secretariat is entrusted to ISESCO, will award its relevant prizes at the opening ceremony of the 7th Islamic Conference of Environment Ministers, scheduled for 25-26 October 2017 at ISESCO headquarters in Rabat, in coordination with the OIC General Secretariat.

In the same vein, the two sides agreed to hold the 4th Meeting of the Islamic Executive Bureau for Environment (IEBE) at ISESCO headquarters, on 9-10 May 2017 (experts’ meeting on 9 May and a ministerial one on 10 May 2017).

They also agreed to pursue consultations on the organizational arrangements for the 7th Islamic Conference for Environment Ministers, the IEBE’s meeting, the Award ceremony and the setting-up of a joint task force to this end.

At the close of the meeting, MEP President expressed his thanks and appreciation to ISESCO Director General for the good preparation for the meeting and the warm hospitality offered to the Authority’s delegation. He also reiterated his keenness to promote cooperation relationship between the two institutions in such a way as to serve joint Islamic action in fields of environment and sustainable development.

For his part, ISESCO Director General reiterated the Organization’s gratitude for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for his high solicitude for ISESCO’s activities and his support of its civilizational mission to defend the Islamic world’s causes. He also appreciated the sincere efforts of the Authority’s General President to boost cooperation with ISESCO, support its activities, and expand the scope of cooperation with it.
